Migrate our node.js scripts to esm format

      Context: 
      Some of the dependencies that we are using have migrated to pure ESM modules format. In order to be able to update to the new versions of these dependencies, we need to migrate all our scripts into ESM format. We should however investigate if it is currently possible with the current dependencies that we have.
