What is the desired functionality that you are missing?
Currently I get "no main manifest attribute, in optimize-backend-2.4.0-alpha2.jar" when I try to run the jar without specifiying the Main class.

Which problem are you going to solve with this functionality?
In cloud environments like e.g. OpenShift / MiniShift it is quite common to not have to pass the main class into the startup command of a jar. It would simplify the usage of Optimize in OpenShift environments.
