Context:

In order to produce less confusing models from external events, we should consider offering the possibility of a start/end event scope for external sources. This would result in smaller models and could reuse a lot of the logic that we use from both the external event autogeneration and the camunda event autogeneration. It would also require design. It's possibly worth considering at a later date, when we look into limiting external event inclusion by group/source filtering.

Hint: It probably makes sense to first add OPT-3985 before adding this functionality since with having groups of external events this feature makes a lot more sense.
