Currently, when building models with multiple start events, the events will overlap by default. This behaviour is default in the Model API (bug ticket: https://jira.camunda.com/browse/CAM-12012). Until a proper solution is in place, we may be able to work around this to some extent by placing subsequent start events lower in the diagram.
