Objective: New Optimize users can set up new collections with dashboards, reports, and alerts extremely quickly
Target Metrics:
A first -time user takes <120 seconds to create a new "process performance overview" dashboard with alerts for each number-based report
Motivation
• Faster setup and organization of Reports and dashboards allowing for alerting.
• Alert setup closer to Report configuration. Today users (especially new users) struggle with the fact that after initial collection setup they are not able to create reports without adding data sources to them.
User Workflow:
- Create a Collection
- Add a data source
- Create a dashboard from a template
- Configure an alert from each number-based report
Ideas
• Creating an entity from the homepage prompts option to save within an existing or new collection.
• Base definition is added automatically to the collection.
• Refinement of tenants and added users occurs outside of the creation flow
• Alerts can be set within the entity on number reports and also on configured goals
• Alerts are automatically added to the alerts list within the collection - alert details such as email and configurations occur within the alerts tab.
• Easy option to allow addition of all users and permissions as is available when creating entities in the home page
• Data sources can be added during dashboard creation
• Alerts can be added by interacting with a report or dashboard
• Users can see the related alerts when interacting with a dashboard
Possible solutions:
- Collection Builder - already add data source during creation of collection
- Activate Scoping and Permission once needed - per default when no data source has been added, all data sources available to the user can be used. only once the user actually added a data source the usage will be restricted. this would feel very natural to the end user
- Every user automatically gets a "Private collection" with no other users added (maybe the home page). This is the default. If they want to share, they can add users OR move their entities to a shared collection
