What is the desired functionality that you are missing?

As a business stakeholder, I want to see how many root process instances have been run so I know how expensive my Camunda Cloud subscription is going to be.

Which problem are you going to solve with this functionality?

Pricing is based on root process instances. Without knowing if a process instance is a root PI or a sub-PI, it's difficult to calculate expected costs.

      Context: Given, When, Then

GIVEN I am viewing a report
AND I am viewing process instances
THEN a filter is available for root process instances
WHEN I filter by root process instances
THEN any process instance with a parent process instance is filtered out

BUT data outside the retention window is not preserved
      AND the user is notified
