Description
What/Where is the issue ?
Optimize 3.11.1 demo distribution does not start on Windows.
Environment: C7
Optimize version : 3.11.1
ES version : 8.7.0
OS + Browser version : Windows / NA
Steps to reproduce:
- Preconditions: download 3.11.1 demo-dist zip
- Steps:
Notice that elasticsearch/elasticsearch-8.7.0/config/elasticsearch.yml has no security config in it, prior to running for the first time.
After starting optimize-demo.bat, you get the following output:
Setting up environment variables...
Environment is set up.
Starting Elasticsearch 8.7.0...
(Hint: you can find the log output in the 'elasticsearch.log' file in the 'log' folder of your distribution.)
Polling elasticsearch ... 20 retries left
...
Polling elasticsearch ... 0 retries left
Error: Elasticsearch did not start!
Observed behavior:
Optimize does not start since the script does not see that ES is running. Notice that elasticsearch.yaml now has a bunch of security enabled.
Expected behavior:
Optimize-demo should start after a new install.
Additional Information:
Changing all of the security tags in the ES yaml to false allows the script to run succesfully and start Optimize.
Additional testing notes: please also cover older versions to confirm whether the issue is present/fix needs backported.
