Steps to reproduce
When performing a Set variables to process instance batch operation on a finished PI I get the following exception:

Problem
I assume that the operation is not applicable on historic instances, however the error message "processInstanceIds is empty" does not describe the problem.

Expected behavior
Tell the user that adding variables to a finished process instance is not possible/allowed
