Background:
When automatically migrating across multiple patch updates, user's might encounter database patches that have been provided for multiple minor versions. If the automation script does NOT recognize that a script has applied already, the migration might fail. Detecting this issue requires an extensive script.

To simplify automation of Camunda DB updates, we are evaluating whether it makes sense to use a tool like https://flywaydb.org/ for database schema management.
