Previous discription:
Wildfly 9, currently Beta1, dropped support of the threads subsystem recently. Until now it was no problem to use the output of dist/wildfly (based on WF 8.1) with in WF 9. Now this is no longer possible.
Luckily the libraries and the functionality is still there and will remain.
So in short: the definition of the thread pool has to go into the camunda subsytem replacing the reference and camunda subsystem has to handle the pool creation.
See https://developer.jboss.org/thread/253690
I think it would be best to copy the existing wildfly folder as wildfly9 to keep the existing on unchanged and intact. Integrate wildfly9 into the build process and replace threads subsystem by enhancing the camunda subsystem.
I might work on this later this week.
