Export & Import - Collections configuration

XMLWordPrintable

What is the desired functionality that you are missing?

I can export collections including Alerts, User, Reports, Dashboards, so that I can import my collection into an Optimize instance when needed (e.g. export from development / staging environment and import into production.

Which problem are you going to solve with this functionality?

Collections including reports, dashboards, alerts are often prepared in staging environment and once the process moves into production or dashboards have been approved dashboards and all including reports have to be recreated in the production environment. this is very time-consuming for end users.

NOTE: This includes configuration only - the underlying Elasticsearch data is not exported or imported

      Use Cases

      • (MH) Backup and restore Optimize configuration for one collection in a production environment
      • (SH) Backup and restore ALL collections in a production environment
      • (SH) Migrate Optimize configuration from development to production environment

      Context

      • It's best if the user can export or import all configurations in a single command
      • The API user needs to be aware of any discrepancies between the exported and imported environment. For example, if there's a dev user with a access to a collection who doesn't have access to a production environment, there should be a warning in the response body

**This is the third iteration after OPT-4649 which did the same for Combined Reports and Dashboards.

Before OPT-2252 did the same for Single Process and Decision Reports.
