    Description

      Context:

Right now, it's possible to view process instances and group them by variables. Among others, it's possible to group by numbers (double, float) and date variables. Optimize automatically finds the values that exist and creates intervals (date ranges)/ explicit number buckets. However, that has the downside that if you have a lot of numbers, e.g. 1- 10 000, Optimize creates 10 000 entries on the x-axis. It's hard to read what the report data says this way. It would be beneficial to define custom date ranges or number ranges which Optimize should group by, e.g. 1-1000, 1000-2000, ... 9000-10 000

      AT:

      • As a user, I can define buckets for the group by number/date variable reports

UX suggestion (Concept to be discussed in kickoff)

In configuration menu add bucket configuration option

      Date Buckets
      • options display Year, (quarter - do not currently display) , month, week, day, hour
(So as to allow: Data grouped by year, then distribution by month)

      • Disable incompatible options
      • Default to more granular option than that selected in group by
ie. group by month: bucket is set to week
      • Changing visualisation resets the bucket configuration.

      Numerical data Buckets

      • Size of buckets
Automatic: splitting the data into equally sized groups of size most relevant to the data set

      • Number of buckets
      User input / selected number
ie 10 buckets (meaning data is split into ten even groups along the x axis)
      Q. What if data cannot be split evenly?
